What is Serum Amyloid A(SAA)?

SAA = Serum amyloid A. It is mostly found in a handful of hours. It is not easily detected unless there is an inflammation. The SAA levels in the blood spring up if the horse is vulnerable to infectious agents rather than allergies or autoimmune inflammatory processes. SAA rises fast after an inflammatory stimulus (within 6-12 hours) and goes down quickly. Since the SAA level will correlate to the resolution of infection, it can be used to determine when to stop antibiotics. We can help you figure this out just in 10 mins.
